Frequently asked questions

  1. What is the Foundation? What does it do?

The CFCC Foundation’s sole purpose is to provide resources to help the College carry out its educational mission in Marion, Citrus and Levy counties. We work with donors and volunteers to provide funds for students and the College through scholarships and endowed chairs, and we also increase the College’s visibility in our community through fund-raising events as well as educational and cultural activities. The CFCC Foundation is a public, nonprofit, tax exempt 501(3)(c) organization providing resources to help the College carry out its mission to provide quality, low-cost educational services to all people.

  1. How do I make a contribution to the Foundation for scholarships or endowed chairs?

Contributions may be made by cash, stock, real estate, or other tangible items. Payment may be by cash, check, credit card, or direct deposit. One time gifts, pledges, and payroll deductions are available options. Gifts are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Gifts may be anonymous, or as an honorarium or memorial to an individual or family member. Donor recognition and naming opportunities are available. For more information, please contact Major Gifts Officer, Lisa Ellspermann Lombardo, (352) 873-5808, #1427, lombardl@cf.edu, or Cash Pealer, Foundation President, (352) 873-5808, #1212, pealerc@cf.edu.

  1. What is the status of my scholarship? How do I apply? When do I receive the money?

The scholarship application, awarding and distribution process is handled by the College's Financial Aid Office. The financial application is on-line or a hard copy may be obtained from the Financial Aid Office. Through the Financial Aid Office, the College Scholarship Committee makes the actual award. Scholarships are credited first to a student's fee bill and any excess is then given directly to the student.

The Foundation's role is to solicit funds, invest funds, and report to donors on how their funds were spent. Students must bring a thank you letter for the donor to the Foundation office before their scholarship is available for distribution. The Foundation sends the thank you letter to the donor.
