Philosopher and author Hannah Arendt once wrote,
“Promises are the uniquely
human way of ordering the future.”
As we closed the college’s 50th anniversary
celebration, it was only natural that we asked
ourselves about our commitment for the next 50 years.
As
we continue to pursue our vision we wanted our
promise for the future to be signifi cant. And, to that
end, we created a meaningful Declaration of Promises to set the college’s direction
for the next 50 years. The document was conceived, written and endorsed by the
college community with tremendous pride and commitment. We began our declaration
with our sincere pledge to provide access to a culture of learning devoted to student
success. Promising to document and measure learning outcomes demonstrates our
commitment and a genuine desire to improve the learning success of our students. We
further promise to be good stewards of the resources that we have with our obligation
toward sustainability. We also promise to continue to provide education and training
to an ever-changing workforce, and to embrace diversity and global understanding by
providing learning opportunities to promote cultural literacy and to inspire tolerance
and compassion through knowledge. This issue of Connections is dedicated to all those
who participated in this Declaration of Promises for CFCC as it is our way of ordering
the future for generations to come.
I hope you enjoy this spring issue of Connections.
